Inspirations: River Fishing & Big Trout
Guess what I got up to yesterday...
Another wonderful day river fishing on one of Taupo's favourite fly fishing spots, the Tauranga-Taupo River.
Being slap bang in the middle of editing a stream of three books, days like yesterday are much needed.
There's something about taking a walk up the river, watching the Wood Pigeons, Tuis and Fantails flit from branch to branch, and spotting the dark shadow of a big brown trout prowling through the water.
This Cabbage Tree was enormous, it dwarfed us, and I had to stop to take a shot.
But we were after the wily river trout and they certainly were not playing ball.
Two kilometres up the river, almost three hours of searching and flicking a line through the cool waters, before we hit a pool of beauties. Here's hubby into the first fish of the day.
And then we went on to catch three spectacular specimens. And OK, Tony caught two, but getting to try out my new reel on a big, fat, determined fish in the Tauranga-Taupo River, was one great refresher.
I love the scenery. I love the quiet. I love the crisp, fresh spring air. All of it inspires and lets my mind wander, plotting storylines, fleshing out character traits, thinking up twists and turns for my next book.
I could not have hoped for a better break from editing or for a more appropriate environment to plan, plot and polish my next book. Which, incidentally, will be Sweet Seduction Shield (Sweet Seduction, #5)
So, that was my Friday. How was yours?
